Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced on Wednesday that Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Wozniak will receive Serbian citizenship.

Wozniak, who co-founded Apple with Steve Jobs in 1976, is a well-known philanthropist and entrepreneur. He is also an enthusiastic supporter of Serbia and has invested in the country several times in recent years.

“Steve Wozniak is a man of world fame and a symbol of entrepreneurship and innovation,” said Vučić. “His decision to accept Serbian citizenship is an honor for our country.”

Wozniak said he was “very excited” to receive Serbian citizenship. “I have always loved Serbia,” he said. “I believe the country has great potential and I want to help lead it to an even better future.”

Wozniak and his wife Janet will both receive Serbian citizenship. They plan to continue living in the United States, but they plan to visit Serbia regularly.

Vučić said that the decision to grant Wozniak citizenship “is a clear signal to the world that Serbia is a country open to entrepreneurs and investors.”

The special status that allowed Wozniak to become a citizen is set out in paragraph 19 of the Serbian Citizenship Law. This paragraph enables the naturalization of people who make a significant contribution to the country and are therefore important to the country.

Wozniak’s commitment to Serbia includes a number of investments. For example, he has invested in a technology center in Belgrade that offers young people the opportunity to further their education in technology and entrepreneurship. He has also supported a number of charities in Serbia.

Wozniak’s decision to accept Serbian citizenship is a positive sign for Serbia. It shows that the country is attractive to entrepreneurs and investors and that it is a country that is open to the world.
